Everyone
who tries relentlessly towards the success will be rewarded
handsomely. The cheers on the faces of the little innocent one's
reached to the realm as they received the prizes for their great
efforts. The prize distribution ceremony at Trinity central
school was presided over by our dear Rev. Fr. Denis Prakash
Lobo. Mr. Richard Lasrado and Mr. Daniel Mascarenhas were the
chief guests at the occasion.
Want
to be self reliant and self protective - come to Trinity Central
school and you will see the karate kids performing Kattha. 50
students appeared for the karate exam and secured the yellow
belt and three of them secured A+ grade with their great skill
of martial arts. For the first time the students were appearing
for the karate exam so, the enthusiasm and the curiosity to
perform was at the realm.
Science
Day was observed at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 28th
February, 2013 to mark the day of Nobel Prize winner Dr. C v
Raman. Dr. Geetha Takur from the Government Hospital at Ambale
was the chief guest. She also inaugurated the Science club
officially and delared the Science Exhibition open.
“Taramandala” from Chitradurga had conducted examinations on
“Science & Humanity – Story of Science” in the month of December
and the results were announced on this auspicious occasion and
the certificates and medals were distributed.
On 23rd we celebrated
the 4th annual day at Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya. It was a grand success -thanks
to God- the day began with hoisting by the school flag during the assembly.
The program in the evening was presided by Rev. Fr. Chetan Lobo, the chief
guest His holiness shri. Basava Prasad and other dignitaries were present on
the stage. For the first time in the history of Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya we
inaugurated Scouts and Guides during the occasion. The school report was
submitted, the guests were honoured and children given away prizes.
Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell (22 February 1857 – 8
January 1941) and his wife Lady Olave Baden Powell (22 February
1889 – 25 June 1977) were born on the same day (22nd February)
but the difference is 32 years. The Scouts & Guides moment
started by this couple in Great Britain has spread to 128
countries of the world. Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur which
has the unit of Scouts & Guides, Cubs & Bulbuls, celebrated the
birthday of this heroic couple on the 22nd of February.
Sneha Jyothi
Vidyalaya had organized an Educational tour to Mysore. The students
benefitted a lot from the awesome experience they had in Mysore. All
appreciated the tradition and richness that incredible India is crowned
with. Thanks for the all the capuchin brothers and Ursuline Franciscan
Sisters for being very generous in making the students and staff comfortable
on the excursion. We also appreciate the initiative of the Principal Fr.
Dancy Martis.
“Come, Let us build a United Tomorrow” was the
theme of the 3rd Annual day which was celebrated at the school Campus i.e
Trinity Greens on Saturday, 16th February 2013.
Prof.Mathew C. Ninan, Principal, Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar, was
the Chief Guest for the program. Rev.Fr.Peter Cyprian D’Souza, Superior of
St. Anne’s Friary, presided whereas Mrs.Eugene Quadros, President of Barkur
Parish Council was the Guest of Honour. The school flag soar high and the
dignitaries were escorted by the school band for the much awaited
celebration.
Various programs added beauty to the celebration.
Anugraha School, Halbarga, Bidar celebrated its Annaul Day on
16-2-2013 at 4.30 in the evening. The function began with the
Blessing and Inauguration of School new block. Fr. Vincent
Furtado, our Provincial inaugurated the new block by cutting the
ribbon and Most. Rev. Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga,
Blessed it. After which the annaul day began with prayer dance.

Cubs & Bulbuls together with teachers of Infant Jesus School,
Chikmagalur went for a hiking to Shringeri on 17th February,
2013. It was a part of the monthly activities of the Cubs &
Bulbuls and hence they preferred to go far away. The tiny tots
all below 10 years of age left in the morning and returned in
the evening with full of rich experience. They had the Darshan
of Shringeri temple and also had a holy dip and holy meal. Kudos
to you all Cubs & Bulbuls.
37 Scouts & Guides together with 3 masters of Infant Jesus
School, Chikmagalur went for a hiking to Dharmasthala on 17th
February, 2013. It was a part of the monthly activities of the
scouts and guides and hence they preferred to go to Dharmasthala.
They left in the morning and returned in the evening with full
of rich experience. For many it was a first experience of
Charmadi Ghats and also the divinity of Dharmasthala with a holy
meals.
St. Anthony’s Institutions, Kengeri
celebrated its Annual Day on Saturday, 9th
February, 2013. With the arrival of the
President and the guests the program began sharp
at 6 pm and punctually ended at 9 pm sharp. The
chief guest Mr. S.T. Somashekar heaped the
institutions with praises and appreciated the
dedication and discipline. The prize winners in
various events during the academic year were
felicitated.
In a Legal awareness program held on 30-01-2013 at Vimukti Social
Work Centre at Pothnal, Mr. S.H Mittal Koda, the District Court Judge
enlightened nearly 255 women and children about the various rights they
have and the laws that are pertaining to them. The program was organized
by the Women and children welfare department along with the Zilla
Panchyath Raichur in collaboration with Vimukti Social Work Centre at
Pothnal.
School
Annual Day of Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur was celebrated on
9th February, 2013 at 4 p.m. Fr. Vincent Furtado, OFM Cap. the
provincial of the Holy Trinity Province of the Capuchin friars
presided over the function. Mrs. Mini Thomas, the principal of
St. Joseph’s P U & Degree college, Chikmagalur, was the chief
guest. Bro. Victor Crasta, OFM Cap., the principal, Fr. Lawrence
Dilraj Sequeira, OFM Cap. the vice – principal, Mr. Shreedhar R,
the president of the Parent-Teacher-Association were the other
dignitaries on the dais. The students entertained everyone with
colour programmes.
On January 14, 2013 Vimukti staff and the members of
Ensemble Agissions gathered together for the evaluation. The
lengthy report, which included various activities that were
undertaken, was presented before all. The Vimukti director Fr.
Sathish elaborated each subject of the report in detail. There
were many issues discussed with regard to the future plans of
the year. For the betterment of the project new directives were
suggested and which could be implemented in the future.
It’s said “People
will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will
never forget how you made them feel”. Vimukti staff has always a busy
schedule because of the various assignments they undertake each time. To
have small break and relax a day-out programme was fixed for the 16th of
January 2013. The venue of our day out was Hampi the Historical place and
T.B.Dam.
On 13th of January 2013 the children of 14 villages arrived at the
Vimukti premises at 9.30 a.m. various events and competitions were
organized on this day. First, there was clay model exhibition on science
which was held. At the Sneha Jyothi School premises, the speech
competition was arranged. Many children took active part, gave
inspiring, and thought provoking speeches.
In the evening at 5.00, the cultural programme commenced.
In the words of Voltaire, ‘God gave us the gift of life; it is
up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.’ “Sing and
dance for joy, it’s a day of joy, it’s a day of cheer, it’s a
day of love, it’s a day of mirth” it’s a day of celebration of
gift of life. 11th of January 2013 indeed a great day of joy as
our dear friends Mr. Daniel Helbert, Mrs. Bernadette Mrs.
Veronique, Mrs. Jattiot Lily celebrated their birthday at
Vimukti premises.
An
enjoyable college fete followed by an enthralling Musical
Evening was held at the twin colleges campus on 2nd February.
The much awaited day began with the college fete. The students’
enthusiasm was overwhelming. They set up more than 25 food
stalls and games areas. All types of snacks and chats were sold
along with a variety of games. The fete began at 11 in the
morning and continued up to 3 pm in the afternoon.
The lower primary
children from Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya had an outing on 1st of Feb
2013. The children played in the Kiskinda water resort, near
Gangavathi. It was an amazing experience for the children as
there is no water for basic necessities in and around Pothnal.
The children enjoyed to the maximum on the occasion.
9th January was a joyful day as we welcomed the arrival of our loving friends from France; Deniel, Bernadette, veronique, and Lily. They are all the members of the funding Agency ‘Ensemble Agissons’ (Let’s get going together). “Sunshine is a welcome thing it brings a lot of brightness” says Jimmie Davis. The very nature of the sun is full of brightness. The Vimukti premise was also filled with lot of brightness as our kind benefactors who travelled all the way from France to Pothnal
to share their joy amidst the children who are being sponsored
and are very much concerned.
An
institution requires constant fine tuning and the highest level
of co-operation, co-ordination and team spirit coupled with
exceptional professionalism. We are happy to say that our
teachers exhibit the rarest of rare commitment and devotion in
the execution of their duties. Our Physical Teacher K. Rudraiah
has got " The Best Physical Teacher Award" from the Bangalore
South District High School Association. We owe him a deep debt
of gratitude.
Talent Examination
for Kannada Language was held in the month of November, 2012 at
Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. Its results were announced in
January, 2013. 87 students answered this exam conducted by
Putani Vignana – Chitradurga. All the students have passed in
First Class and distinction. 13 students who got ranks received
medals at various levels. This exam was conducted and supervised
at the school level by Mr. Kiran Kumar, M.A., B.Ed. the
president of Kannada Sangha and assisted by Mr. Naveen Nazareth
and Mr. Santhosh T R. The certificates and medals were
distributed to the winners by Fr. Lawrence Sequeira, the
vice-principal of the school. Our school was recognized as one
of the best schools in the state and the guide teacher as one of
the best teachers.
Cubs &
Bulbuls Utsava was held at Doddaballapura, Bangalore Rural, from
18th to 22nd January, 2013. Six Cubs from our school
participated in the Utsava. The tiny tots were accompanied by
their cub masters Mr. Poornachandra S S and Mr. Naveen Nazareth.
As the troop was going for the first time outside Chikmagalur,
they have a rich experience to share. Ours was the only lucky
school to represent the entire Chikmagalur District.
Sneha
Jyothi Vidyalaya celebrated the republic day in a grand scale.
The chief guest Fr. Robin Lopez who received the solute as the
students marched in parade. The flag hoisting was at 8am. There
were inspiring speech on the meaning and significance of the
day. The chief guest and a teacher also inspired the
congregation with their wisdom on the significance of the day.
Some children sang some patriotic songs. The program ended by
distributing the sweets.
Republic day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur
on 26th January, 2013 at 8 a.m. Mr. Kanta Kumar B S, M.A., L.L.B.
a lecture cum advocate was the chief guest and hoisted the
National Flag and narrated to the crowd the importance of the
Republic Day and the constitution of India. Sr. Cynthia Suares,
UFS, the District Training Commissioner for Guides was the guest
of honour.
The
Capuchin Study House Dimapur, meant for the
future formation house for the North Eastern
students of our Order was inaugurated by Br.
Provincial and blessed by Most Rev. Dr. James
toppil on 21st January 2013. The foundation
stone for the building was laid by Rev. Br.
Vincent Gabriel Furtado the Provincial Minister
in the month of October 2009. Having completed
the first phase of the construction, the house
was inaugurated so that it can begin to shelter
the friars and all who come.
All
those who seek mineral and less calcium water
please step in Pothnal and you will have. In
Dootharbandi substation there a water refinery
is under the construction under the leadership
of Pothnal parish priest, Fr. Anthony Raj
(Senior). The BDDS director, Fr. Paulraj has
been generous towards this venture. Thanks to
him. The village people joining hands together
to complete the work as soon as possible. The
nearby villages will be benefitting from the
water refinery.
As
the day dawned to its fullness bringing with it
great joys and happiness, and as the birds flew
from their nests with their sweet whispering
songs, the children , the sweet young children
of Trinity were on toes and gathered in great
number for the picnic to Mangalore. We began our
journey in the morning at 09.30 a.m and hoped to
reach Kudroli temple as early as possible.
The
Annual Sports Meet of the twin colleges was conducted in the
second week of January. The students took part in it
enthusiastically. Several of them bagged prizes in both in-door
and out-door events. Games like Volleyball, throwball, foot
ball, badminton, Kho-kho, etc were conducted. Several track
events also were conducted. Mr. Rudraiah, the physical trainer
of St. Anthony’s School, Gangondanahalli assisted in Kho-kho.
16th
January 2013 was a joyous day to all the friars of Holy Trinity
Province Karnataka. It was the day of Priestly Ordination of Br.
Justin Sumi. Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima
conferred the grace of Ordination on Br. Justin Sumi on 16th
January 2013 in Catholic Church, Stitimi town at 9.30 a. m
during the Holy Eucharist. Br. Vincent G. Furtado the Provincial
Minister of HTP province Karnataka and his delegates and some
friars from the province have witnessed this grace filled event.
We congratulate Fr. Justin Sumi and wish a fruitful ministry in
the vineyard of the Lord.
To
conclude the Co-Curricular activities of this academic year, we
had Assisi Kho-Kho-Tournament. This year again we had an
over-whelming response of students from over 40
schools. St. Anthony's school boys emerged as winners for the
third consecutive time. And Cambridge School girls emerged as
winners.
CHILDREN NEED MODELS AND NOT CRITICS : Childhood is the golden
period in a child's life. Children love appreciation and want to
be recognized. Our L.K.G and U.K.G students expressed their
desire, "To be like him/her". by participating in fancy dress
competition.
Maths
Talent Exam by “Putani Vignana Chitradurga”, was conducted in
our school in the month of November, 2012. Its results were
published on 16th January, 2013. Out of the 141 students who
appeared for the exams were all declared passed in the First
class and above. 15 students secured ranks at the following
level:- Taluk level – 3, District level:- 4, State level:- 5,
National level:- 3. Colourful certificates and medals together
with 4 booklets were distributed to the students by the
president of P T A, Mr. Shreedhar.
All
the Junior Priest recent ordained in the year
2010, 2011 and 2012 were gathered at Trinity
Vihar Shivally from 3rd January to 6th for a
mutual sharing of their pastoral experiences.
The main motto of this gathering was to have
some spiritual insights and renewal for all the
young priests who are involved so many
activities in different places. Therefore the
sharing of the experiences of young brothers was
preceded by the input sessions from different
qualified and experienced professors.
The
talented children of Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya left
their footprints in the books of records as they
won the prizes in the district level on 28th of
December 2012. The prizes were distributed on 10
January 2013. Congratulations to all children
who participated and teachers who assisted them.
On
8th January, 2013 Rangoli, Mehendi and Flower arrangement competitions
were held for the students of the twin colleges in view of the College
Annual day to be celebrated on 9th Feb. 2013. A number of students
participated in the competitions with enthusiasm and displayed their
skills. The winners will be awarded with prizes on the College Day.
Christmas 2012 was celebrated at St.
Anthony’s, Kengeri on 22nd December. Fr. Dolphy
Pais was the guest of honour and gave the
Christmas message.
Since the degree students were on vacation, the
whole program was organized by PU students.
Christmas carols, dances, and tableau depicting the birth of Jesus
were the highlights of the day. The students were treated with
Christmas sweets at the end of the program.
January 8th,
2012 the day would remain significant one in the hearts and the
minds of the Vimukti children as their long awaited dream was
fulfilled when, Vimukti Makkala Hejje (the foot prints of Vimukti
children) the magazine was released. The Vimukti institute
considerably works for the betterment of children and it strives to
bring the best out of those children by way of constant and moral
support, only keeping in mind that the children become the little
stars and shine wherever they go. This magazine gave an ample of
opportunities to the children where they could write various
articles, poems, rhymes, stories, art so on and so forth.
The
month of December brings with us it some sweet memories, which
includes, the Christmas. At Trinity, this month brought lots of joy
and happiness. The Christmas celebrations at Trinity were celebrated
on 21st of December with great enjoyment and glorious gatherings.
Along with Christmas celebrations there included two more beautiful
events namely.
A hectic
schedule from June till November made everyone look forward to a
freak out as "only work and no play makes jack dull boy'. so, during
the month of December, we organized a trip to north Karnataka,
innovative film city, Talakadu, Somanathpur temple, Bluff falls, and
Lumbini garden. students and teachers enjoyed the visit to various
places like garden, water park factory and historical places.
St.
Anthony school would like to wish you and all, a very joyful
Christmas and a blessed new year 2013. 
Christmas
was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 22nd
December, 2012. Fr. Patrick D’Souza from bishop’s house
delivered the Christmas message. On this occasion as India was
celebrating Mathematics Day on 22.12.2012, we also inaugurated
Mathematics club in our school. Christmas cake was cut and
distributed to all the gathering. Each staff member received a
Christmas Gift and a sumptuous meal.
Our School
had arranged a three day excursion to Goa on 1st December 2012 to relax and
enjoy the beauty of nature.48 students along with 12 staff members visited
Goa. Reyon of Std VIII, Branhard of Std VII and Melissa of Std VI were taken
to Goa on Principal’s expenses as they had faired excellently well during
their Mid-term exams. The journey in the train was wonderful as we had good
view of the landscape around us and the children enjoyed a lot dancing and
singing.
20TH DECEMBER 2012
was a joyous day for all of us the friars of Holy Trinity Province
Karnataka, India. We thank God for his choicest blessing he has showered
upon us. On this day the new house ‘YESU NILAYA’ at Palya, Hassan District
was blessed and inaugurated by Most Rev. Anthony Swami, Bishop of
Chikmagalur. The inauguration ceremony began at 11:30 a. m and continued
with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist officiated by Most Revered Bishop
along with more than 25 concelebrants, capuchins as well as diocesan fathers
of Chikmagalur diocese and for about 150 faithful along with religious
brothers and sisters.
Trinity
Central School here celebrated "Children’s Fest - 2012" at Trinity
campus on Saturday, 15th December. Prior to the celebration, Guests of
Honour were accorded a guard of honour with the school band leading to dais.
Rev Fr. Vincent Furtado Capuchin, Provincial of CPM Bangalore blessed the
newly build stage of the school.
What is the
activity? : Formation of Association of Children of St. Francis of
Assisi. Purpose of the association : For the stronger faith formation through
children in and around Pothnal. To motivate all Christian to involve
actively in the church activities. To make the parish to be supported by the
parishners. How it works? : The association works with the members
who are children, who gather every week and pray in a certain place after
the catechism class.
A Seminar on
transformative spirituality through self-awareness, self-formation and
self-mastery organised by the Franciscan Capuchins, held at Capuchin House,
Ampitiya, Kandy on the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed
Virgin Mary and at the special occasion of the Birthday celebration of our
Guardian. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Soosai SJ from the Jesuit Province, Patna was
the resource person. The guardian welcome Fr. Lawrence and all the
participants who came from other neighboring houses said that all
transformative spirituality involves of being aware of oneself, forming one
self and growing into that fullness of being one’s own unique self.
It was Sunday morning
on 16th of December; there was smile and wonder on all the face as one cake
was distributed among hundreds of children and parishnrs. It was birthday of
our beloved Brother and principal of Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya Fr. Dancy Sunil
Martis whose birthday was celebrated in the parish level under the
initiatives of the parish priest, Fr. Anthonyraj (senior). The day was
remarkable in the parish as the parish priest remembered the constant
support and encouragement he gets from the birthday baby.
Capuchin Krishik Seva
Kendra CKSK has brought lasting changes in the lives of vulnerable children,
youths and women in various aspects of life. The Organization and its
beneficiaries always remain indebted to ChildFund India, Manos Unidas, TDSS,
Bridge Foundation and well-wishers without whose generous financial support;
one would not have seen the smiles on the faces of unfortunates’ brethren.

Capuchin Krishik Seva
Kendra Vimukti Laila organized a programme called “Vibinnatheyalli
Bavaikyate” on 8 December 2012 at Ujire near Bus stand. The president of the
programme, Rev. Fr. Henry Vas, Chairperson of Dayalbagh Institutions, Mr.
S.G Bhat, the Public Relation Officer, Benaka Health Centre, Ujire, Mr.
Seviyar Palely, Notary & Advocate D.K. District Christian Marriage
Registrar, Maulana Zameer Sahadi Val Fazil, Prof. Sunni Darul Ulum
Mahammadiya Bangalore were the Chief guests of the programme.
Charitable
Trust® Organized a HIV/ AIDS Awareness Programs in five unites on 7th 8th
9th 10th and 11th 2012 in different places of Manvi Taluka. The Staff put up
tableau, skit on the theme HIV/AIDS. The Staff put up tableau, skit on the
theme HIV/AIDS. Group songs, speeches and poster display were the important
items of the days. Mr. Mallaya the SDMC President of Gram Panchayat
Uatakanoor flagged off the rally from Mahalingeshwara temple to Village
circle. During the rally vigilant songs were sung and anti- AIDS slogans
kept the rhythm of the rally. Fr. Sathish Fernandes Director Vimukti, Chief
Guest of this stage program, apart from that Mr. Kubera Head master Mr.
Bawaraj High School teacher, were present on the stage.
There was a double
celebration of life at Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya as the Manager of the School,
Fr. Robin Lopez and The Principal of the School, Fr. Dancy celebrated their
anticipated birthday on 12-12-12. Since the Children are appearing for the
2nd Unit Test on 17th the Staff decided to have the celebration on 12th
December. The theme of the program was: LIFE IS THE GIFT OF GOD. The staff
and students rocked the stage to their level best with dances, dramas,
rhymes, speeches of appreciation and cutting the cake in a very creative
manner etc.
On the
10th of November, 2012, a friendly match was held between the
students of Infant Jesus School and the students of Government
Higher Primary School of Adhishaktinagar, Chikmagalur. Kabaddi,
Kho Kho, Volley ball and throw ball were the events took place.
Mr. Praveen Harold Pinto, the Physical Education Teacher of St.
Joseph’s Convent School, Chikmagalur was the referee for all the
events together with Mr. Santhosh T R, the PE Teacher of Infant
Jesus School.
Fr.
Charles Furtado, the Dean of Studies at Darshan Institute of
Theology, Bengaluru, organised a seminar, ‘Liturgy Builds the
Church’ on the 1st December 2012 from 9 am to 4 pm. It was
rendered by a well informed Resource Person in the person of Fr.
Boniface Pinto, the Director of Mangala Jyothi Pastoral
Institute, Mangalore. Fr. Charles welcomed the gathering, Fr.
Edwin Colaco presented the Key note address, Fr. Boniface
enlightened us with his paper Presentation on how the Liturgical
celebration actually builds the Church, after which his talks
were more on the practical issues regarding the Uniform
Guidelines for an Effective Liturgical celebration and
Liturgical Proclamation of the Word.
The Sneha
Jyothi Vidyalaya School rejoices together with staff and
students as many of our children participated in Ravi Varma
Chitrakala drawing competition and 30 of our students
participated and won so many prizes. Thus the principal Fr.
Principal and staff decided have a stage program and distributed
the prizes. The program was held on 6th of December, 2012. For
the program the Chief Guest was Fr. Anand J. assistant parish
priest of Javalagera, Mr. Sabjali Sab, HM of Tadkal Primary
School, PT teacher from Tadkal and parents representatives Mr.
Soloman from Diddagi and Shivakumar from Gonvar.
The world
aids day celebration was celebrated on 30th of November as there
was government holiday on 1st of December. The day was
celebrated very meaningful at Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya, Pothnal.
There was half day seminar on sex-education for the 6th, 7th and
8th standard students. Sr. Nirmala UFS was the resource person
for the seminar. The seminar was arranged in view of the
all-round growth of the children.

CARE TO STRENGTHEN THE FAITH OF THE PEOPLE WITH THE FOLLOWING
ACTIVITIES: A CROSS IS BEING TAKEN INTO THE VILLAGE TO VILLAGE
AS A SIGN OF YEAR OF FAITH. THE DAY IT REACHES A VILLAGE A

Prathibha
Karanji (cluster level) was held at Morari Residential Minority
School at Tegur on 23rd November, 2012 and the students of
Infant Jesus School, participated in all the competitions. 24
students received prizes in various levels. All of them were
congratulated for the great achievements and the teachers who
prepared them were thanked by the principal on the following day
during the morning assembly.
Karnataka
Centre for Talent Exams, Hungund, Bagalkot District, conducted
English Talent examinations at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur
in the month of August, 2012. Its results were declared on 21st
November, 2012. Out of the 184 students who answered this
examination, all passed in First Class. 18 students received
ranks in various levels, like Taluk level – 5, District level –
4 and State level – 9. Certificates were distributed to all the
students while the rank holders received extra medals. The
school headmaster was awarded special prize for the keen
interest shown to conduct this examination.
The
children’s day was celebrated on 15th November 2012 at Sneha
Jyothi Vidyalaya, Pothnal in a grand scale. The celebration
began with assembly by announcing and wishing the children a
happy children’s day. The principal of the school Fr. Dancy
Sunil Martis enlighten the children regarding children’s day and
its meaning and significance. After that the respective class
teachers conducted both indoor and outdoor games to their class
children like fancy dress competition, memory testing games,
funny games, cricket, throw ball etc.,.
Our staff
members organized various activities to encourage them to open
up new issues. And teachers showed their love and interest to
their students by conducting various activities. 
Children’s Day was celebrated on 15th November, 2012 at Infant
Jesus School, Chikmagalur. The day began with the school
assembly cum prayer led by the staff. This day was combined with
the Inaugural programme of English Club in our school. The Chief
Guest of the Day Rev. Sr. Savitha Antony, CTS, the General
Councilor of the Congregation of Theresian Sisters from Rome,
inaugurated the English club by lighting the traditional lamp.
Mr. Bennette D’Souza, one of the coffee planters and Mrs. Geetha
Dias a social worker and philanthropist were the judges for the
Fancy Dress & Rangoli Competitions.

Karnataka Rajyotsava Day was celebrated at
St. Anthony’s, Kengeri on 3rd November, 2012. The college wa reopened
just on 30th October, hence the day was shifted to 3rd November, in
order to have more time for the students to prepare. Frs. Chetan and
Veerus were the chief guests for the function. Dr. B.S.Talwadi, the PU
college principal and an eminent Kannada author spoke on the importance
of encouraging and safeguarding Kannada language and culture. Fr. Chetan
opined that Kannada should bond hearts and minds together and not create
alienate people. He condemned the attempts of dividing one Karnataka
into pieces.
The
programme began at 8.30am with welcoming the honorable guests on the
dais and singing HACHCHEVU KANNADADA DEEPA The guest were mainly our own
staff members. The children participated actively in the short conducted
programme and danced to the tune of ADAVI DEVIYA KAADU JANAGALA EE NAADU
and HUTTIDARE KANNADINALLI HUTTABEKU. The guests enlightened the
students and staff regarding the Karnataka Rajyothsava. The programme
ended with vote of thanks by Fr. Richard Kadiwal and distributing sweets
to the students and refreshment to the staff.
Karnataka Rajyotsava Day
celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur
:
On 16th of October, 2012, a Medical
camp was organized at VIMUKTI. There were 750 children attended Medical
camp and benefited from this program and there were 2 doctors and nurses
examined the children. A play on Health and Hygiene was performed by the
staff and children were suggested to maintain cleanliness in and around
the living habitation as part of their health awareness programme. The health camp recorded on height and
weight, Blood pressure and general health indications. After the
programme nearly 18 children were referred to different hospitals for
further treatments.
Three days summer camp was organized at vimukti premises by VCT for
the Club children from 17th, two 19th of
October, 2012 for their holistic development.
310 children attended it and benefitted by being
enriched with the wide knowledge and gained rich
experience of learning innovative things through
digital learning. The main purpose behind the
camp was to develop and nurture the young minds
rationally. It started with meditation for half
an hour regularly and then proceeded with video
shows on consequence of cleanliness, child
labour, child marriage, and malnutrition etc.,
English, Kannada, Hindi and other language songs
were taught to sharpen their singing talents.
“Surely
God will reward each person according to what he
has done” (Ps 62,12). The hard work and
dedication of Fr. Salvador Fernandes bore fruit
as he was conferred doctorate in Sacred
Scripture on the 10 of October 2012 from the
prestigious Rheinisch Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität
BONN, Germany. He did his research in the Book
of Psalms entitled “God as Rock in the Psalter”
under the guidance of the renowned scholars
Prof. Dr. U.Berges and Prof. Dr. F. –L. Hossfeld.
The doctoral ceremony was witnessed by a number
of Capuchin Friars, friends and well-wishers.
The day began with the Eucharist celebrated at
St. Remegius in Bonn, followed by the Doctoral
ceremony in the Festsaal of the University and a
reception thereafter.
As the beautiful quote says ''Education is that whole system of
human training within and without the school house walls, which molds
and develops children''. We must know education is not limited to
certain areas but in every field there is something to learn. We know
that in the past the vimukti ceaselessly working towards the development
and education of children in various ways and tries to implement new
ways and methods, it organized a day out for about 40 children to the
kavital police working department to know more about the work and
mission that is undertaken by the police personnel.
To
realize the need of the hour and serve the
purpose of the people is the greatest wonder and
the achievement of human being. As the age old
saying goes ‘Health is wealth’. The Vimukti
Charitable Trust (VCT) had been catering to the
manifold plans, undertaking projects for the
welfare and the upliftment of the people in this
region. ‘Health’ has been the core issue, and
the focus to attend to this issue is the prime
need. The VCT is showing its credibility and
efficiency by being open to various needs of the
society; it really triggered off the attention
of hundreds of people who were struck when they
heard of Vimukti Blood Bank being
institutionalized in Pothnal.
In
order to increase the awareness on Environmental degradation,
Environment Day was organized at St. Anthony’s Institutions on
10th October, 2012. It was organized by the Social Action Cell
of the College led by its co-ordinator Sr. Jacintha Crasta. On a
stage beautifully decorated with plants and flowers the function
began with a prayer. Fr. Chetan, the director, Fr. Veerus, the
degree principal and Dr. B.S. Talwadi, the P.U. principal were
on the dais.
The Students of St. Anthony’s P.U.College
along with the principal and lecturers went for
a day’s study tour to Belur, Halebidu and
Shravanabelagola. There were 28 students and
five lecturers in the group. According to the
schedule, they started at 7 a.m. in the morning
and returned at 9.30 p.m. in the evening. ‘The
day long tour was quite enriching and
refreshing’, they said.
October
4th is the Festal Day of our Patron St. Francis of Assisi. It
was celebrated in a grand manner at Infant Jesus Friary,
Chikmagalur. Fr. Pradeep Sequeira, S J, the Episcopal Vicar for
the religious in Chikmagalur diocese was the main celebrant. In
his homily he highlighted the qualities of this unique saint who
had no enemies in this world. The school choir consists of all
the staff members sang melodiously. A sumptuous meal was served
to all the guests who numbered more than 100.
Gandhi
Jayanthi was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur in a
unique way. At 8.30 a.m. all the students and staff gathered at
the school auditorium offered flowers to the photo of Gandhiji.
Mrs. Chandramma one of the members of the PTA garlanded the
photo of Gandhiji and made an eloquent speech about the
personality of Gandhiji and his contribution to obtain
Independence from the British. Bro. Victor Crasta, the principal
narrated Gandhiji’s unique principles like Ahimsa, truth
and the love for the poor and the downtrodden.
Welcome
to St Anthony's School, Gangondanahalli. We conducted a Singing
Competition for all our students. Our teachers themselves were
the judges. Listening to the melodious voices, now we feel our
students could compete with anyone. Quality is never an
accident, it is always the result of high intention and sincere
effort.
Taekwondo
Association of Chikmagalur District held a competition for High
School and Primary students at District level. The venue was
Bhuvanendra High School, Rathnagiri Bore Road, at Chikmagalur.
22 students of Infant Jesus School took part in the competitions
at various levels. 13 students won the prizes.
September
14th being Hindi Day in India, it was celebrated
in a meaningful way at Infant Jesus School,
Chikmagalur. Students and staff began the day
praying in Hindi. On this auspicious occasion,
the school officially inaugurated Hindi Club in
the school. The president, vice-president,
secretary, treasurer and 3 members of the newly
inaugurated club arranged the programme in a
special way. Besides, lighting the traditional
lamp the president cut the cake and distributed
to all. Everyone spoke in Hindi whole day to the
surprise of all.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of
Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Teachers’ day was
celebrated at the twin colleges at Kengeri. The
students put up a splendid function on the
occasion. Various games were conducted for the
staff. ‘Most lovable male lecturer’ and ‘Female
lecturer were chosen and honoured.
A
tree is, perhaps, the most valuable gift provided
to mankind by Mother Nature. It gives us what is required for
living human life. Their very birth starts with the process of
providing wood, shade, fruits and oxygen. In cutting down trees,
humans fail to see their purpose and by destroying trees they
destroy the land itself. There was little hope this year when
the entire Raichur had some good showers of rain. A campaign was
organized at utaknoor High school of Raichur district by the
Vimukti Charitable Trust to create awareness against the growing
amputation of trees and of the need to preserve trees.
On the 5th of September, Teachers’’ Day was celebrated at Infant
Jesus School. Rev. Fr. David Prakash, the rector of St. Joseph’s
Minor seminary, Chikmagalur and also the Editor of Sneha Jyothi
– diocesan monthly magazine, was the chief guest of the
function. He distributed gifts to all the 29 staff members.
Besides, the members of Parent-Teacher Association also gave
special gifts to each staff . Mr. Shreedhar S, the president of
the PTA distributed these prizes. The entire programme was
conducted by the students. In the afternoon various competitions
were organized between the staff and the students. All the
students were given special cake and the staff had a sumptuous
meal.
Forest
Department from Chikmagalur provided each student with a silver
plant and celebrated vanamahotsava on 31.08.2012. Mr. Revanna
Gowda the forest officer came with 500 silver plants and
distributed each student and urged them to plant it, water it,
manure it and nurture it and see that one day it becomes a big
tree. Students in turn while receiving the plants responded the
officer with a promise that they will take good care of these
plants and see that all the 500 plants will grow and become big
trees and provide shade and shelter.
Training
on Abacus for the staff of Infant Jesus School, at Chikmagalur
was held on Sunday, 26th August, 2012. Very Rev. Fr. Vincent
Furtado, OFM Cap. the provincial of Holy Trinity Province,
Karnataka and also the President of Capuchin Education Board,
inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Mr. Manthu
Fernandis, Research and Resource person of OGAE Way of Education
conducted the programme together with his team members Mr.
Virendra Patil, Mr. Chetan, Mrs. Veena Umesh, Mrs. Nethra Chetan.
Nearly 20 staff members attended this programme and are fully
prepared to impart this knowledge to their students in the
nearest future.
The
key persons in the realization of the various programs were the
staff who worked for the development of Children and dealt with
the social issues. When the Projects started most of the staff
were new and were inexperienced in Social Developmental Field.
We had to organize two days training progrmme for the GP
Co-ordinations who were working for same cause. The staff
underwent Orientation and Capacity Building Trainings, which
were an asset for them.
Vimukti Pothnal organized one day first hand informative training at
Vimukti Premises. This training was organized in order to motivate and
to make a base line survey to know the present scenario of health,
nutrition and education of the villages (Socio-economy) very
effectively. All the 36 GP Co-ordinator were present to this training.

survey.
November 14th is a special day for all the children in
India. This year Kanakadasa Jayanthi took its place on 14th as
it was declared of public holiday all over Karnataka. Still the
Vimukti Charitable Trust took every care to celebrate it on that
day. The programme began at 10.00 am by invoking the blessings
of the almighty God and blessing of the children. Mr.Dhipak
Boosa Reddi the Police Sub inspector of Manvi presided over the
function. In his speech he explained Children’s Day is to
celebrate "childhood".
All the
students of Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur were medically
examined by the doctors of nurse of Government Hospital, K. R
Pete. on 17.08.2012 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Dr. S. Geetha,

The
twin colleges kickstarted the season of
extra-curricular activities with Pencil Art
Competition and Fireless Cooking Competition on
4th July, 2012. The enthusiasm of the students
was without bounds. 25 teams participated in the
Cookery Competition and prepared yummy, mouth
watering foods and drinks. The remarkable
culinary skills hidden in the youngsters were
lauded by everyone. Everyone was at one’s best
yet only three prizes were awarded.
The
Student Council Elections were held at Darshan
and St. Anthony’s P.U. Colleges on 20th June,
2012. Hectic campaigning by the candidates
preceded the elections. Vishal, Rohith, Thrupti
and Sindhu for PUC and Siddiqa, Jyothi George &
Sungjemnaro Kichu were candidates. Rohith
Aloysius was elected president and Sindhu vice
president of St. Anthony’s P.U. College for the
Academic year 2012-2013. Siddiqa Taranum was
elected president and Sungjemnaro Kichu elected
vice president of Darshan College for the
academic year 2012-2013.
On
the 5th of June, World Environment Day was celebrated at Infant
Jesus School, Chikmagalur. Fr. Lancy Noel Rebello, OFM Cap. the new
priest explained to the students and staff the importance and duty
of everyone in preserving the environment. The school principal Br.
Victor Crasta, OFM Cap. requested everyone to keep the school
surroundings and also the home surroundings keep, clean and tidy as
a part of World Environment Day. New plants were plated in the
school compound by the staff and students to mark this occasion.

COLLEGE IS ROCKING!!
Thanksgiving day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur
on 31st March, 2012. The chief guest Rev. Fr. Cyriac T J, the parish
priest of Holy Family Church, Vijayapura and Mr. Leo M D’Souza, the
sponsor of today’s programme were welcomed at the school entrance by
the school band. 108 students who secured hundred percent attendance
during the academic year 2011 – 2012 and the best students of the
year were felicitated by the guests. All the drivers who transport
the students every day by their own vehicles were thanked specially
for their yeomen services and honoured with a gift in a very unique
way.
Collage
Competition was held for the students of BBM and B.Com at Darshan College on
10th March 2012. Around 20 groups took part in it with enthusiasm and put
their creativity to the test. The marks were awarded on the basis of
Concept, neatness, presentation and creativity. A collage (From the French:
à coller, to glue, is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts,
made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. This
term was coined by both Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of
the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art.

January 1941) and his wife Lady Olave Baden Powell (22 February 1889
– 25 June 1977) were born on the same day (22nd February) but the
difference is 32 years. The Scouts & Guides moment started in Great
Britain has spread to 126 countries of the world. Infant Jesus
School at Chikmagalur which has the unit of Scouts & Guides
inaugurated recently, celebrated the birthday of these heroic couple
on the 22nd of February. The day began at 9.30 a.m. by hoisting the
Scouts & Guides flag by Sr. Cynthia Suares, the Guides District
Training Commissioner.

Republic Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on
26th January, 2012 for the first time. At 8.30 a.m. the newly
purchased school band was in action to welcome the chief guest Fr.
Paul Melwyn D’Souza, OFM Cap. (en route Switzerland for Doctoral
Research). He hoisted the national flag amidst all the students and
parents gathered. In his speech he highlighted the qualities of a
students and expressed great satisfaction about the discipline and
first of all the school band performance within 20 days of practice.
Bro. Victor Crasta, the principal in his speech said that the Tri-colour
of the national flag represents 3 religions:- saffron for Hindus,
white for Christians and Green for Muslims and in the centre the
wheel to unite all the 3 religions and keep us moving and united.
Sweets were distributed to all gathered and students danced to the
tune to Vande Mataram and other patriotic songs.

Dr. Vincent Gabriel Furtado, OFM Cap. The president of Capuchin Education Board in Karnataka

the Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. At 9.15 a.m. he blessed all the 23
staff and prayed for them during their Morning gathering. At 9.45 a.m. all

The academic year 2011-2012 was inaugurated together with Smart Class (EduComp)
by Mr. L Rangappa, Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Chikmagalur. The
newly erected Kids Park was declared open for the kids to play and enjoy, by
Fr. Chetan Lobo, the Secretary of Capuchin Education Board in Karnataka. The
inaugural function took place at 10 am with a prayer service led by Bro.
Vinod Colaco, OFM Cap. and Sr. Gretta Sequeira, UFS. Fr. Lawrence Dilraj
Sequeira, OFM Cap., the vice-principal of the School welcomed the
dignitaries, the newly joined staff members and also the new and old
students. The school has six new staff members and they are:- Bro. Vinod
Colaco, OFM Cap., Sr. Gretta Sequeira, UFS, Mr. Abdul Razak, Mr. Halesh G,
Miss Reetha N R, and Mrs. Keerthi U. This year the school has classes from

D'Mello took place on 3rd May, 2011 at St. Anne's Friary Chapel, Mangalore
amidst moderate gathering. Br. Provincial along with 2O con-celebrates
officiated the solemn Eucharist prayer at 10.00 a.m. and received the vows.
The sonorous choir from the novice brothers solemnized the celebration.
After the Eucharistic celebration a short felicitation program for the
Perpetually Professed was held and then a sumptuous meal was served for one
and all. We wish and pray for these Perpetually Professed Brothers that they
may persevere till the end in their life of commitment to the Lord.

Picnic to Manasa, Pilikula, Mangalore:- 
The
6th Annual Day of Infant Jesus School at Chikmagalur was held on
the 5th of February, 2011. The day began with the invocation of
the blessings of Almighty God. Bro. Frolic Fernandes welcomed the gathering
and all the guests at the dais prayerfully lit the lamp and inaugurated the
function. Bro. Victor Crasta, OFM Cap. the principal of the school read out
the lengthy annual report surprising every one that the school has 354
students from LKG to Std. IV and informed every one saying the construction
of the 2nd and 3rd floor of the school building will
begin from tomorrow onwards in order to accommodate the growing number of
students next year. The report further said that the school management is

Furtado, the dean of studies. Rev Fr Jossy Fernandes OFM Cap., the director
of Shanthi Sadhana, delivered the key note address. Rev Fr Gilbert Choondal
SDB, head of the department of Faith and Youth Ministry of Kristu Jyoti
College, presented the first paper with the audio-visuals on Youth and
Evangelisation.
As a preparation for the School Annual Day of Infant
Jesus School, sports day was conducted on 25th January,
2011. Fr. Arthur Menezes, OFM Cap. the parish priest and
superior of Infant Mary’s Church at Bankal inaugurated the
sports day by lighting the sports torch. In his address to
the students, he requested them to play a clean game and
congratulated them for the keen interest they show in
sports. The principal Bro. Victor Crasta, OFM Cap. referring
to the quotation from the I Corinthians 9:24, “All run at
the stadium, but only one gets the prize, run as if to win”
urged the students to cultivate the spirit of competition.
Various games were conducted and the winners were selected
to be honoured on the Annual Day 5th February, 2011. All of
you are cordially invited.
The Third semester BBM students at Darshan College have brought laurels
to the college by achieving 100% results in the third semester exams
conducted by Bangalore University in Nov/Dec. 2010. While 50% of the
students have passed in the first class, the other 50% have secured high
second class. Hearty Congratulations to the principal Fr. Veerus Concessao
and the staff for making this possible. Congratulations to all the students
for their hard work. Do it once more!!
It
was a fantastic all-round performance by the Kripalites in the “carol
singing” organized by Carmel catholic association Mysore, Diocesan carol
singing competition and big bazaar super centre Mysore in month of December,
2010. The brothers brought laurels to Kripalaya through their electrifying
singing. They sang to the pulsating beats with angelic voices bagging all
the three first prizes in English, Kannada and Konkani languages in Diocesan
carol singing competition, first prize in Carmel catholic association and
first prize in Big Bazar Super centre mysore. Their performance was heart
throbbing and it was palpably felt by the audience. This was possible only
because of the strong support of Fr. Edwin Colaco, our Rector and the Staff.
The renowned and eminent personality was Fr. Santa Lopes who guided and
taught us to make music the melody of our heart. We congratulate all the
participants for their hard work and success.
It was a very auspicious day in Trinity Central School on 11th November
2010 as the Trinity Central School celebrated the Mega Event 'Children's
Fest' with grandeur. The celebration began in the morning at 10 a.m.
with the prayer dance "Vandan vandan" followed by the welcoming of the
guests and the gathering by Fr. Richie. The programme was solemnly
inaugurated by the chief guests of the day, Fr. Chetan, Fr. Cyprian, Fr.
Freddie and others by hoisting the flag and bursting crackers
and the Newly composed Trinity Anthem was sung for the first
time by everyone.
40 P U C students of Sri Ramakrishna PU College, Jyothinagar,
Chikmagalur together with their 5 staff members took active part
in their NSS camp and cleansed the play ground of Infant Jesus
School at Kadri Midri, Chikmagalur. The team guide and the
professor Mr. Kumare Gowda introduced the students to the
principal of Infant Jesus School and requested to inaugurate the
camp. The students took keen interest and made the surrounding
clean and green. The Principal Bro. Victor Crasta gave an
inspiring talk as how a student could become a good social
worker and achieve good name from the society.
Prathibha
Karanji (Fountain of Talents) was held in Government Higher Primary School, at
Mattavar in Chikmagalur District, on the 26th of November, 2010 for Mughthihalli
Cluster organized by the Department of Education. The School children of
Infant Jesus School, at Chikmagalur too participated in the competitions and 10
students won the prizes in various competitions. Rev. Fr. Joseph Dolphy Pais,
the vicar provincial of Karnataka Capuchin Province, who was on a fraternal
visit to Infant Jesus School, distributed these prizes on the 27th during the
school assembly. He urged the students to be more competitive in every field in
order to challenge modern times. Fr. Pais remarked to say that he was surprised
to see the discipline of the students and took note of every student singing the
school anthem melodiously. The principal, vice-principal and all the staff were
present on the dais.
The
historic event for the Capuchin Friars in INFANT JESUS DELEGATION, NAGALAND-MANIPUR
took place on 17th & 18th November, 2010 at St. Peter' Friary Atoizu, Nagaland.
The first Triennial Assembly of the
Delegation was formally inaugurated on 17th Nov. 2010 morning with the lighting
of the symbolic Lamp by Rev. Fr. Vincent G. Furtado, Minister Provincial, Holy
Trinity Province, Karnataka and Provincial Delegate Rev. Fr. Augustine Claude
D’Souza and his Councillors. The lighting ceremony was followed by the Solemn
Eucharistic celebration presided by Rev. Fr. Provincial in which he gave a very
inspiring homily basing on the Theology of Incarnation, thus setting the right
tone for the two days long Assembly. What is laudable was that all the Ten
perpetually professed friars working in the delegation were present for the
celebration of the joyful assembly.
CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION AT TRINITY CENTRAL SCHOOL, SHIVALLY
The
festival of lights had spread sunshine on the faces of little one’s in
the Trinity School campus on 8th of November. The celebration began
at 1 p.m. with a colorful display of Rangoli by the students in front of
the school entrance. Then the beautiful hymn “This little guiding light
of mine” was sung by the children to depict the shining lights in their
lives. Every child was shining with colorful dress catching the lighted
crackers and dancing to the tunes of music. The day was inaugurated by
lighting the flower pot crackers and ended with bursting of rockets.
Every child had this unique experience of catching the shining lights
and running around with awe and wonder. Lots of sweets were sent by the
parents to distribute to the children. The celebration of lights ended
at 3.30 p.m. by serving the sweet payasam to all the children.

Trinity Central School celebrated the Kannada Rajyotsava and Sports Meet on 31st
of October, 2010. The celebration began in the morning at 9 a.m. by lighting the
Torch by the Principal after which the various types of sports were organized
for all the children of Trinity Central School. The Kannada Rajyotsava
Celebration commenced at 2. 30 in the after noon. The children gave the speeches
and all the teachers sang the 'Vishwa Vinutana' song as they honored Karnataka .
At the end of the day, the children were honored with the medals; Gold medal and
Silver Medal respectively. The children cherished and enjoyed the every moments
of the day by participating well in the Sports and other activities.

It was an incredible all-round performance by the Kripalites in the “Prabodhana
Fest” organized by Prabodhana, the Pallotine Theologate, Mysore on October 2,
2010. On this joyful Saturday, there were altogether seven events in the
competition out of which Solo singing, Mnemonics and Instrumental were
individual events, and Vegetable & fruit carving, Bible Quiz, Poster Painting
and Group Dance were the group events. It’s very exciting to say that the
Kripalites have clinched first places in Mnemonics, Vegetable and fruit carving,
Bible quiz and Group dance, and second place in Solo singing. As a result, the
Rolling Trophy was indeed deservedly shared by both Kripalaya and Prabodhana.

Feast Day of Br. Vincent G. Furtado, Provincial Minister: The Feast Day of our beloved
Provincial Minister Br. Vincent G. Furtado was celerated on 27th September, 2010 at Saccidananda, Bangalore. The Spiritual part of the celebration included the Eucharistic Celebration by Br. Provincial in the Morning and a Short prayer service in the evening. After the Vespers we had a short felicitaion program in order to wish the Celebrity of the Day. The presence of our dear definitors Br. Dolphy Pais, Br. Peter Cyprian D'Souza and Br. Chetan Lobo and brothers from Darshan Institute of Theology, FISI, Prem Nivas, Shanti Nivas, Trinity Vihar, Clara Vihar and some friends enhanced the joy of our celebration. The celebration ended with a sumptuous dinner.
The Seminar on "Finance and
Taxes" was held on 16th September, 2010 at Darshan Institute of
Theology, Bangalore. The total number of Participants was 47, from
different communities of the province. The Seminar began with a brief
silence in tribute to late Br. Tarcy Mathias, the great missionary of
our province. Thereafter, we invoked God's blessings on us all by a
short prayer service led by Br. Noel D'Almeida. Br. Manoj D' Souza,
introduced and welcomed the resource persons on the dais and everyone
gathered for the seminar. The opening address for the seminar was given
by Br. Vincent G. Furtado, the Minister Provincial, Holy Trinity
province, Karnataka. 
The Feast of the Nativity of
Our Lady (Monti Fest) was celebrated with great vigour and devotion at
the St. Anne's Friary Mangalore. In spite being a rainy day nearly
hundred people attended the Ceremony. The flower offering to Mother Mary
began at 6.30 a.m. at the portico followed by blessing of the corn and
Holy Mass. Fr. Anil D'Costa in his homily highlighted the importance of
Mother Mary in our life and the our own mothers in our life. 
The
blessing and inauguration of St. Francis of Assisi Nivas (Capuchin new
Friary) Kanchanpur, Tripura. It was inaugurated on 7th August 2010
by Rev. Bishop Lumen Monteiro C.S.C. On 7th August at 6:00 a.m. we had
Eucharistic Celebration in Assisi catholic Center, Gachirampura presided
over by Rev. Bishop Lumen Monteiro who appreciated the commitment of the
Capuchins in Tripura and their selfless service for the well being of
the refugees. Inauguration and Blessing of St. Francis of Assisi Nivas
took place at 11:00 a.m., once again Bishop appreciated the efforts of
the capuchins in North East especially in Tripura and Mizoram. Fr. Alban
the Provincial delegate thanked Bishop and appreciated his co-operation
especially to the Capuchins. 
A
seminar on "Religion, Power and Peace," was held at Darshan
Institute of Theology, the Capuchin Theologate in Bangalore on September
10, 2010. At the behest of Rev. Dr. Vincent G. Furtado, the Provincial
Minister of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka, Rev. Dr. Charles
Furtado, the dean of studies of the Institute, organized the seminar
successfully. The Famous social activist and eminent professor Mr. Ram
Puniyani was the resource person for the seminar. He is a recipient of
many awards. The Indira Gandhi National Integration Award and
National Communal Harmony Award, being some of them. He has
authored many books and articles like Communal Politics, Dalits, Social
Justice and Anti Christian Violence. 
Trinity
Central School anticipated the celebration of the Teacher's Day on 3rd
Saturday. The Programme started at 2 pm and ended at 3.30 pm. The
entire Programme was anchored by the students of Trinity Central School
and they made it a memorable one. The students presented some dances and
speeches in order to honor their dear teachers. They also presented the
mementos which were highlighting the good qualities of the teachers. The
Students organized some games for the teachers. The Staff joined
together for the sumptuous meal thereafter.

The Annual Retreat for the Superiors, Parish Priests and Local Vimukti
Directors took place from 16th to 21st August, 2010 at Bajjodi,
Mangalore. Fr. Ronnie D’Souza SJ with his deep spiritual insights and
rich spiritual experience guided the 34 brothers for five days. Having
energised by a fruitful retreat, on 22nd the Meeting of Superiors of
newly formed fraternities was held. For which 25 brothers were present.
Fr. Joseph Rodrigues, the Rector of St. Aloysius College addressed an
inspiring talk on Creative animation of Fraternities. (A copy of which
is attached at the end). Important issues were discussed during the

The
Feast of "Portiuncula", Our Lady of Angels was celebrated with great
devotion and love at St. Anne's Friary, Mangalore on 2nd August, 2010 with
the Holy Eucharistic celebration at 6 p.m. Nearly Sixty Priests
and fifty religious sisters and hundreds of faithful joined the Celebration.
The main Celebrant Rev. Dr. Joseph Martis, Rector of the St. Joseph
Seminary, Jeppu stressed the importance of littleness and selflessness in
our day to day which we can imbibe from this feast. St. Francis of Assisi
began his mission in this chapel with a humble beginning but God has exalted
him for his littleness. Fr. Peter Cyprian D'Souza the Superior of the St.
Anne's friary thanked everyone and the benefactors for their support and
gracious presence. 
A
meeting of the parent teacher association of Infant Jesus School,
Chikmagalur was held on the 1st of August, 2010, at 10.30 a.m.
Rev. Fr. Chetan Leo Lobo, OFM Cap. the secretary of the Capuchin Education
Board in Karnataka presided over the meeting and addressed the gathering as
a resource person. The meeting began at 10.30 with the prayer song sung by
the school teachers. Thereafter, Miss Benita Asha Latha, welcomed the
gathering; Miss Supriya C S one of the teachers gave a birds view on the
activities and other details of the school from May 15th to July 31st. In
her report she mentioned that the school has a strength of 352 students and
18 staff members making a total number of 370 people in the campus. 
The
inauguration and blessing of St. Anthony’s Pre-University and Hostel
Building, took place on Wednesday 14 July, 2010 at Kengeri, Bangalore.
Mr. I. Ravindranath, the technical assistant of Ms. Shobha Karandlaje,
(Local MLA) represented her and inaugurated the New Building and Rev. Fr.
Vincent G. Furtado, the Provincial Minister of Holy Trinity Province,
Karnataka blessed the New building and the premises in the presence of a
large gathering. Later, in a stage programme joined Mr. Rajanna, the
Corporator BBMP; Mr. Anthony Devraj, Registrar Bangalore University; Sr.
Veena UFS, Headmistress, Gnanabodhini High School. The Management, Staff and
Students thanked wholeheartedly all those who were instrumental in the
realisation of this Institute. The program ended with a short cultural
program and refreshment.

School in Chikmagalur, was held on the 19th of June, 2010 at 10 a.m.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Anthonyswamy, the bishop of Chikmagalur Diocese blessed
the new building and Very Rev. Fr. Vincent Furtado, the provincial of the
Capuchins in Karnataka inaugurated the new building. Mr. C T Ravi, the MLA
of Chikmagalur, launched the website of the School (www.ijsckm.org) and Mr.
L. Rangappa, the DDPI - Chikmagalur, inaugurated the computer Laboratory of
the School. V. Rev. Msgr. George D'Souza, the vicar General of the
Chikmagalur Diocese and Mr. S G Nagesh the BEO of Chikmagalur were the chief
guests.
