The literacy level in the USA 

In a recent study, it has been found that only 52% of Americans have below basic or basic reading skills. Majority of them could sign forms, watch shows in the TV guide, and compare prices of tickets for different events. Most cannot identify places on the map, compare viewpoints in editorials, and determine the food supplies cost from the catalog.

About 4% in the US are non-literate

About 4% of American citizens come below Level 1 literacy. They are referred to as non-literate. They cannot read to perform work to make their daily living. It is hard for most people to say which candidate obtained the fewest votes by seeing a simple table.

About 2% show college literacy levels

When fifth and fourth literacy levels are combined, they were able to show literacy levels of a college student. Only 2% in the group fall under this category.
